He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And hath fear, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
