The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
