The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
