1/4 Hizb 17

Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 "You cast it first," answered Moses. When they cast their spell, they bewitched the eyes of the people and petrified them by conjuring up a great charm. 116 And [then] We inspired Moses, "Throw down thy staff!" - and lo! it swallowed up all their deceptions: 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
