۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said: Aye! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who created them, and as to that I am of the witnesses. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
