O children of Israel! Remember those blessings of Mine with which I graced you, and how I favoured you above all other people; 47 Guard yourselves against the Day on which no soul shall in the least avail another, when neither intercession nor ransom shall be accepted from it nor shall help be given to it. 48 (Children of Israel, recall My favor) of saving you from the Pharaoh's people who afflicted you with the worst kind of cruelty, slaying your sons and sparing your women. Your suffering was indeed a great trial from your Lord. 49 We parted the sea to save you and drowned Pharaoh's people before your very eyes. 50 We appointed for Moses forty nights, but in his absence you took the calf, thereby committing harm. 51 Then We pardoned you after that so that you might give thanks. 52 And (remember) when We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)] and the criterion (of right and wrong) so that you may be guided aright. 53 And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: "O my people! Verily, you have wronged yourselves by worshipping the calf. So turn in repentance to your Creator and kill yourselves (the innocent kill the wrongdoers among you), that will be better for you with your Lord." Then He accepted your repentance. Truly, He is the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful. 54 And when you said “O Moosa! We will not believe you till we clearly see Allah”; so the thunder seized you while you were watching. 55 But We raised you again after you had been as dead, so that you might have cause to be grateful. 56 And We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not - but they were [only] wronging themselves. 57 Remember when We said, "Enter this land and eat freely wherever you will. Make your way through the gates, bowing down and saying, "God! Forgive us our sins." We shall forgive you your sins and We shall give abundance to those who do good." 58 But the wicked changed and perverted the word We had spoken to a word distorted, and We sent from heaven retribution on the wicked, for they disobeyed. 59
