We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
