Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then We utterly destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
