The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
