So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious? 32 Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith! 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 Have they not been created by aught, or are they the creators? 35 Or is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof. 38 Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 Wherefore let them alone, till they meet their Day whereon they shall swoon. 45 Their deception will not avail them in the least on that day, nor will they be helped. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
