Surely the people of al-Hijr also rejected the Messengers, calling them liars. 80 We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them. 81 They would carve secure houses out of the mountains. 82 But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning, 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 Your Lord is certainly the All-knowing Creator. 86 We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the great Quran. 87 Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers. 88 and say: "Behold, I am indeed the plain warner [promised by God]! 89 (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),- 90 who have broken the Koran into fragments. 91 so by your Lord, We will question them all 92 For all that they used to do. 93 So declare to them what We have enjoined, and turn away from idolaters. 94 We will, surely, suffice you against those who mock, 95 those who set up another deity alongside Allah. They shall soon come to know. 96 Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say, 97 So hallow thou the praise of thy Lord, and be thou of the prostrate. 98 And worship thy Lord until there cometh unto thee the certainty. 99
