Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house: 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
