Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
