The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
