The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that blow gently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
