The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink." 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
