۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 We encompassed him in Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
