The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The All-merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
