Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say: 'It has been revealed to me that a company of the jinn gave ear, then they said, "We have indeed heard a Koran wonderful, 1 guiding towards consciousness of what is right; and so we have come to believe in it. And we shall never ascribe divinity to anyone beside our Sustainer, 2 He exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, who has neither taken to Himself a wife, nor a son! 3 And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. 4 We thought that no man or jinn could ever tell lies about God. 5 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight. 12 Hence, as soon as we heard this [call to His] guidance, we came to believe in it: and he who believes in his Sustainer need never have fear of loss or injustice. 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 but those who deviated from the Truth, will be the fuel for Hell.” 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 In order to try them through it. But whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, will be given increasing torment by Him." 17 All the parts of the body to be placed on the ground during prostration belong to God. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
