The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
