The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
