Noah had called upon Us (earlier). See, how excellent We were in answering him! 75 And We delivered him and his people from the great affliction. 76 and caused his offspring to endure [on earth]; 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 Peace on Noah among all men. 79 Lo! thus do We reward the good. 80 For he was one of our believing Servants. 81 Then We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And most surely Ibrahim followed his way. 83 (Remember when) he came to his Lord with a pure heart; 84 and [thus] spoke to his father and his people: "What is it that you worship? 85 “What! You desire, through fabrication, Gods other than Allah?” 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 The people invited him to attend their feast). Then he looked at the stars 88 And he said: verily I am about to be sick. 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 He then sneaked upon their deities and said, “Do you not eat?” 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak? 92 Then he started striking them down with his right hand. 93 His people came rushing towards him, 94 He said, 'Do you serve what you hew, 95 “Whereas Allah has created you and your actions?” 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased. 98 Abraham said: “I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 [And he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Bestow upon me the gift of [a son who shall be] one of the righteous!" 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear. 101 And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." 102 And when they had both submitted, and his son had laid down prostrate upon his forehead, 103 We called out to him: "O Abraham, 104 Thou hast already fulfilled the vision. Lo! thus do We reward the good. 105 Indeed, this was the clear trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice, 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 110 He was one of Our believing servants. 111 And we gave him tidings of the birth of Isaac, a prophet of the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves. 113
