The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 unto a mighty day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
