Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
