The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A Register inscribed. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
