The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
