Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 by those who bring down the reminder, 5 Whether of Justification or of Warning;- 6 Indeed what you are promised, will surely befall. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 The heavens split asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a known calculated term. 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 which neither gives shade nor protects one from the flames. 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak. 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 That is the Day of Judgment. We will bring you together with all the ancient peoples. 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
