We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 A curse shall be on you till the Day of Recompense' 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
