۞ And Allah said (O mankind!): "Take not ilahain (two gods in worship, etc.). Verily, He (Allah) is (the) only One Ilah (God). Then, fear Me (Allah) much [and Me (Alone), i.e. be away from all kinds of sins and evil deeds that Allah has forbidden and do all that Allah has ordained and worship none but Allah]. 51 And to Him only belongs all whatever is in the heavens and in the earth, and obeying Him only is obligatory; so will you fear anyone other than Allah? 52 Whatever blessing you have is from God, and to Him you turn for help when distress befalls you, 53 Then, when He has removed the harm from you, behold! Some of you associate others in worship with their Lord (Allah). 54 [as if] to prove their ingratitude for all that We have granted them! Enjoy, then, your [brief] life: but in time you will come to know [the truth]! 55 They give to unknown images a share out of the sustenance that We gave them. By God, you will be questioned about that which you have falsely invented. 56 And they assign daughters to Allah – Purity is to Him! – and assign for themselves what they wish. 57 When any of them is told about the birth of a female his face turns dark, and he is filled with suppressed anger, 58 With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance and) contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) they decide on? 59 [Thus it is that] the attribute of evil applies to all who do not believe in the life to come - whereas unto God applies the attribute of all that is most sublime: for He alone is almighty, truly wise! 60
