(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
