The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
