The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
