Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
