Man prays for evil in the manner he ought to pray for good. Man is ever hasty. 11 We have made the night and the day as two signs. We blotted out the sign of night and made the sign of the day illuminating, so that you may seek the bounty of your Lord and learn to compute the seasons and the years. We have set everything forth in detail. 12 We have made every person's actions cling to his neck. On the Day of Judgment, We will bring forth the record of his actions in the form of a wide open book. 13 (It will be said to him): "Read your book. You yourself are sufficient as a reckoner against you this Day." 14 "He who finds the right path does so for himself; and he who goes astray does so to his own loss; and no one who carries a burden bears another's load. We never punish till We have sent a messenger. 15 And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction. 16 How many generations We have destroyed after Noah! Thy Lord suffices as one who is aware of and sees the sins of His servants. 17 Whoso desireth that (life) which hasteneth away, We hasten for him therein what We will for whom We please. And afterward We have appointed for him hell; he will endure the heat thereof, condemned, rejected. 18 The effort of one who faithfully strives hard for the (happiness) of the life to come will be appreciated (by God). 19 Each group will receive its share of your Lord's generosity. Your Lord's generosity is not limited. 20 "See, how We favour one over the other; and in life to come are higher ranks and favours greater still. 21 "Do not set up another god with God, or you will remain disgraced and destitute. 22
