And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 “And forgive my father* he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
