Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects the best, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
