The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
