The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 then he mustered 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
