He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
