The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
