۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
