The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
