No, by the moon! 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 in Gardens they will question 40 about the sinners. 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
