The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 a written record, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
