Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 And placing it before them said: "Won't you eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
