The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 For a mighty day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
