The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
