The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 This is The Book free of doubt and involution, a guidance for those who preserve themselves from evil and follow the straight path, 2 Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakat, spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allah's Cause - Jihad, etc.]. 3 who have faith in what has been revealed to you and others before you and have strong faith in the life hereafter. 4 It is they who follow the guidance [which comes from their Sustainer]; and it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state! 5 Those who disbelieve, whether you forewarn them or not, they will not believe. 6 Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment. 7
