Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed. 29 Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 Were they created out of nothing, or are they their own creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Or, are the treasures of your Lord in their keeping? Or, are they the controllers? 37 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! 38 Hath He daughters and ye sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Do they have knowledge of the unseen, thus, are able to predict (the future)? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Or have they a god other than God? Exalted be God over what they ascribe as partners [to Him]! 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from the sky they would say: 'A massed cloud' 44 Hence, leave them alone until they face that [Judgment] Day of theirs, when they will be stricken with terror: 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise, 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
