The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the messengers: 80 We showed them miracles but they ignored them. 81 Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure. 82 and the Cry seized them in the morning; 83 And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is the Creator, the Knower. 86 We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the great Quran. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 And say: "I am indeed a plain warner." 89 Like as We sent down on the dividers 90 Those who broke the Word of Allah into several parts. (Those who broke the Torah / Bible or changed its text – or those who called the Qur’an a fabrication / poetry.) 91 But, by thy Sustainer! [On the Day of Judgment] We shall indeed call them to account, one and all, 92 About what they used to do. 93 So shout that thou art commanded and turn thou away from the idolaters. 94 We will, surely, suffice you against those who mock, 95 Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know. 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 Glorify and praise your Lord and be with those who prostrate themselves before God. 98 Worship your Lord until you achieve the ultimate certainty. 99
